Atmospheric conditions from the wildfires created challenging test conditions for us over the past week. Our thoughts go out to those affected by the wildfires themselves and hope all remain safe!
It is an eventful summer at Lite Coms! We have three new faces on our team: Natalie, Tony, and Trevon. Natalie is our new Purchasing, Materials, and Publications Associate. She has a management background and recently earned her MBA and CAPM. Tony joins us as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, and he has over 10 years of mechanical engineering experience. Trevon is our new Manufacturing Engineer. He is a recent graduate of RIT. All three are excited to be a part of Lite Coms as we continue to grow our team and our capabilities to better serve our customers!
The Lite Coms Engineering team is excited to announce the addition to our assets of a testing chamber capable of doing environmental temperature tests. This will open the team up to being able to complete more rigorous, frequent testing of how our products perform at extreme temperatures. We previously performed these tests at another facility and had to work around their schedule and operating hours. Now our engineers can test and monitor whenever necessary. Lite Coms is excited for the continual growth of our engineering department and their capabilities to perform diligent, efficient testing to ensure our goal of customer delight.
Lite Coms would like to invite any in the community to participate in the following local blood drive, as well as anyone possible to participate in the virtual drive as well. The Fairport Angels is a tragedy close to many Lite Coms employees hearts, and we would like to invite anyone who can to give back and donate.
The Lite Coms team has been busy traveling for testing of our Lite Sat-2.2A terminal this week. ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 11, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Lite Coms® LLC, (www.litecoms.com ) a recognized world leader in advanced LEO, MEO and GEO Satellite Communications products announced today that their AN/TSC-248(V)-3 Lite Sat-1.3A VSAT Antenna, www.litecoms.com/litesat_1-3, has received INTELSAT FLEX Certification. This certification allows users around the globe to operate on the global, High Throughput FlexGround network offered by Intelsat General Corp (IGC). The AN/TSC-248(V), Lite Sat 1.3A is a tri-band VSAT terminal available with X, Ku, and Ka-Band RF kits. Its small pack out and ease of assembly have made it the new standard for many customers.
The most unique feature of this antenna over any others in its class is the Lite Link® Graphical User Interface (GUI). This GUI, which was developed through months of user input and feedback sessions, is the most advanced and most automated control software for terminal users around the world. It significantly reduces the tasks the operators must contend with in the field to deploy and manage their SATCOM equipment. The Lite Link® GUI offers many features which have never been available in a VSAT terminal before and are available on all GEO, MEO, and LEO products offered by Lite Coms.
“Lite Coms is very appreciative of our friends at Intelsat for their certification of our Lite Sat 1.3A. They worked at a record pace with our technical team to move this through the process to meet the needs of very important customers,” said Bob Jacobson, President, and CEO of Lite Coms®. Andrew Colaruotolo, Sr. Director of Operations and Programs added “We would also like to thank:
- INTELSAT and IGC
- Mission Microwave,
- AvL Technologies, and
for their continuous support as we operated with OpenAMIP and on Velocity 2.0. This very capable product offers users the ability to operate in the harshest environments and provides a new level of simplicity for either the General-Purpose User or a highly trained satellite engineer.”
The Lite Coms team has a wide variety of new products which will be introduced to the world market this year. The innovation in their products and their time to market is unmatched. They have raised the bar yet again for customer support, quality products, on-time delivery, and #CustomerDelight. Spring has sprung in the Finger Lakes Region! We hopefully got our last bit of snow last week and are full steam ahead into summer activities (much to the wishful thinking of our team.) While we try to be as nice to our great Engineers as possible, outdoor development work is much better from this point on! We have some cool news coming out for our Lite Sat-1.3A terminal, watch this space!
#waybackwednesday This time last year the Lite Coms team was rapidly adjusting to the changing global business environment due to the coronavirus outbreak. Luckily, we were able to still make it to Satellite 2020, an event where we were able to showcase products and capabilities as well as meet and collaborate with other great companies. Even though last year did not turn out as expected for anyone we are still smiling and very excited to be able to attend Satellite 2021 later this year! Where we will have innovative new technologies to share with customers and collaborators alike.
Lite Coms is excited to announce that the Lite Sat-1.3A has been type approved by Intelsat for the Intelsat FlexGround service running the iDirect Velocity 2.0 network. The HTS Ku-Band service offered by Intelsat is the perfect compliment to the rugged, light, versatile and easy to use terminal!
The team at Lite Coms® would like to wish everyone a happy St. Patrick’s Day! This spring is shaping up to be a very busy time of year for us, and we like to think we have the luck of the Irish on our side, to have the continued support of our amazing customers and vendors to facilitate our growth. Let us know how you are celebrating your St. Patrick’s Day today!
St. Patrick’s Day Fun Fact: The color associated with St. Patrick’s Day was originally blue, not green!
Though we have come to associate Kelly green with the Irish and the holiday, the 5th-century saint’s official color was “Saint Patrick’s blue,” a light shade of sky blue. The switch to green was made because of the green in the Irish flag, the clover, and the island being nicknamed “The Emerald Isle”.
The Lite Coms MRZR continues to delight customers with the addition of DTECH M3X products to provide a complete solution for multiple users in the field. The Lite Coms implementation makes use of the standard DTECH M3X mounts that allow the equipment to be stacked and slid in/out of the transit case. The removable and isolated rack makes configuration a breeze inside or outside of the vehicle. This integration also features a custom, deployable transit case solution for customer housed electronics. We are always looking to create and implement anything our customers can dream up!
Lite Coms® integration team is skilled at creating systems that are fit for use in hostile environments. These Tactical Modem Assemblies (TMA) house iDirect modems, alongside a Comtech 5650-C modem. They have a safe, cushiony ride as this MRZR flies through the air in the hands of skilled operators. Our integrations are easily removable without any permanent modifications to the vehicles. We strive to create clean and elegant installations that our end users are proud of!
This past summer Lite Coms® completed a vehicular integration project for a loyal customer.
The Lite Coms® team was presented with the design challenge of integrating a 1.0m antenna dish as well as a mounted flat panel onto a vehicle that was compatible for stowage and transportation in the onboard cargo bay of a V-22 Osprey aircraft.
The vehicle was already designed to fit into the tight space with a roll cage that maneuvered into a lowered position for transportation, so the addition of two pieces of satellite communications capable equipment that could not only perform in the way designed but also collapse into a stowable position was a formidable challenge.
The Lite Coms® engineering staff integrated the 1.0 meter auto-acquire antenna on to the rear of the vehicle on a mount with an operational position, as well as a different stowing position, depending on if the antenna were in use or being stowed for transportation. The flat panel antenna was added to the existing mechanics of the vehicle and was given two possible positions for deployment or safe stowage.
This project proved to be a huge success for Lite Coms® and a great opportunity for our team to prove their determination for finding the best solution even in the face of design constraints and challenges, for the result of customer delight.
Happy Valentine’s day from everyone on the team here at Lite Coms. We hope everyone is having as good of a start to the year as we are. We love our customers and are excited to stick together through the coming year.
