Tactical Modem Assembly Integration

By Blog Post

Lite Coms® integration team is skilled at creating systems that are fit for use in hostile environments.  These Tactical Modem Assemblies (TMA) house iDirect modems, alongside a Comtech 5650-C modem. They have a safe, cushiony ride as this MRZR flies through the air in the hands of skilled operators.  Our integrations are easily removable without any permanent modifications to the vehicles.  We strive to create clean and elegant installations that our end users are proud of!

Lite Coms MRZR Integration

By Blog Post

This past summer Lite Coms® completed a vehicular integration project for a loyal customer.

The Lite Coms® team was presented with the design challenge of integrating a 1.0m antenna dish as well as a mounted flat panel onto a vehicle that was compatible for stowage and transportation in the onboard cargo bay of a V-22 Osprey aircraft.

The vehicle was already designed to fit into the tight space with a roll cage that maneuvered into a lowered position for transportation, so the addition of two pieces of satellite communications capable equipment that could not only perform in the way designed but also collapse into a stowable position was a formidable challenge.

The Lite Coms® engineering staff integrated the 1.0 meter auto-acquire antenna on to the rear of the vehicle on a mount with an operational position, as well as a different stowing position, depending on if the antenna were in use or being stowed for transportation. The flat panel antenna was added to the existing mechanics of the vehicle and was given two possible positions for deployment or safe stowage.

This project proved to be a huge success for Lite Coms® and a great opportunity for our team to prove their determination for finding the best solution even in the face of design constraints and challenges, for the result of customer delight.
